At what age did you entertain the first (serious) thoughts of going into sex work?
16, I started considering porn once I was of age.
What made you decide to enter the line of work you’re in? Be as specific as possible.
When I was 18, I saw the conditions were awful for adult workers in porn. I fell backwards into ‘escorting’ instead, where I could choose my own working conditions, set my own hours, and answer to no one.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The freedom and flexibility of it. I also enjoy the work itself, I enjoy my time with clients.
What do you like the least about your work?
The behind the scenes work of being independent can sometimes get tiring. Having to keep track of advertising and payment due dates, posting daily ads on free sites, sifting through countless emails. Also, sometimes you get burnout. I set a daily client limit and will not work more than 4 days a week to prevent this, but still sometimes it happens.
Does your family know what you do? If so, what do they think?
I don’t really have a ‘family’. But the people closest to me do know.
How much longer do you think you’ll do what you’re doing now, and what are your plans for when you quit? If you’ve already left, what made you decide to leave and what did you decide to do for work when you left?
I don’t have plans to quit, I plan on doing this until no one will have me. I’m also looking into porn again now that the working conditions have been improved.
If you had to go back and tell your younger self (mid to late teens) that you’d be doing what you’re doing now (assuming you’re still working in the sex industry), what do you think your younger self would say about it?
“Awesome”. Honestly, it was an aspiration of mine. I exude sex, there’s no reason for me not to do sex work.
What advice would you give someone who was looking to get into your line of sex work?
Do your research. Talk to workers, read review boards, and never offer something you’re not comfortable with offering.
Also, make sure your screening methods are something you’re comfortable with. Escorting can be a risky business, and the last thing you want to do is skimp on your security. Find out what other providers do for security, enact what you’re comfortable with.
Weekly STD testing. Only take risks you want to take – if you aren’t comfortable offering oral sex without a condom, or receiving oral sex then don’t. There are a lot of men who will still be interested in seeing you.
Don’t let yourself get bullied or negotiated into either lowering your rates, or offering a service you aren’t comfortable with. Do not see anyone you are not comfortable with seeing. If someone gives you bad vibes, refund 75% of their money and tell them the chemistry isn’t working.
Make sure there’s someone who knows where you are and what you’re doing. It’s called “safe call”. Text or phone them before your appointment, and when you’re done. I personally have two safe callers for incalls, and a driver + safe caller for outcalls.
